We have already visited many sites, and it just keeps getting better. On day 3 (Wednesday), we spent a good bit of time around the Sea of Galilee. We stopped by Capernaum, which is where Jesus healed the paralytic (Mark 2) and Peter’s mother-in-law (Matthew 8). We also saw Chorazim (one of the cities Jesus traveled through and pronounced a “woe” on) and Genneserat (where Jesus healed the demoniac, Mark 5). We finished the day with a boat ride across Galilee, the sea where Peter, James, and John fished and where Jesus walked on water.
On day 4, we started our day by visiting Bet’Shean, where the Philistines hung the body of Saul and his sons after they killed them (1 Samuel 31). Then we stopped at Jericho, where Joshua conquered the first city in Canaan (Joshua 6) and where Jesus saved Zacheus (Luke 19). We ended the day floating in the Dead Sea, and tomorrow we will go to the Qumran area where they found the Dead Sea scrolls (and later in the week we will get to see some of the scrolls, along with the Masoretic). Stay tuned!
