Israel – Day 3 and 4.

We have already visited many sites, and it just keeps getting better. On day 3 (Wednesday), we spent a good bit of time around the Sea of Galilee. We stopped by Capernaum, which is where Jesus healed the paralytic (Mark 2) and Peter’s mother-in-law (Matthew 8). We also saw Chorazim (one of the cities Jesus traveled through and pronounced a “woe” on) and Genneserat (where Jesus healed the demoniac, Mark 5). We finished the day with a boat ride across Galilee, the sea where Peter, James, and John fished and where Jesus walked on water.

On day 4, we started our day by visiting Bet’Shean, where the Philistines hung the body of Saul and his sons after they killed them (1 Samuel 31). Then we stopped at Jericho, where Joshua conquered the first city in Canaan (Joshua 6) and where Jesus saved Zacheus (Luke 19). We ended the day floating in the Dead Sea, and tomorrow we will go to the Qumran area where they found the Dead Sea scrolls (and later in the week we will get to see some of the scrolls, along with the Masoretic). Stay tuned!

Israel – Day 1 and Day 2.

We are done with our second day in Israel. On day one, we saw Caesarea (where Paul appealed to Caesar and Herod died from worms), Mt. Carmel (where Elijah called down fire from heaven and killed the prophets of Baal), and Nazareth (the birth place of Jesus). It was an exciting day!

Today, we saw Hazor (one of the Canaanite cities that Joshua conquered), the Jordan river (where Jesus was baptized), and Caesarea Phillip (where Jesus asked His disciples who people said He was and who they said He was). There are so many interesting aspects of these cities that it can be overwhelming!

I will keep posting our stops and hopefully I can post some pictures at some point.

Israel Trip.

This week, I have the opportunity to travel through Israel and walk where Jesus walked. Each day, I am going to try to post about the day and the most interesting aspects of the trip. Today, we got to see Lod and the region that Joshua fought when the sun stood still. We are staying on the Mediterranean Sea tonight, and tomorrow we will check out Jaffa (Joppa), where Jonah ran and where Peter had the vision prior to the conversion of Cornelius. So exited for this trip!
