Actions Speak Louder Than Words.

Read the Gospels carefully and listen to the words of Joseph (the earthly father of Jesus). What’s that? You don’t see any brilliant quotes or wise advice from Joseph? Joseph actually never says a word (well, I’m sure he spoke, but his words are not recorded in Scripture!). You could even say he was the strong, silent type!
Joseph’s silence does not mean he has nothing to teach us. We can learn much from Joseph. Grace: he was going to put Mary away silently. Faith: he trusted God and remained married to Mary (the virgin mom). Obedience: Joseph obeyed God and married Mary and raised Jesus as his own son.
In Matthew 2:13-23, Joseph teaches us about obedience without saying a word. The angel commands Joseph to flee to Egypt (vs. 13), and Joseph immediately takes his family to Egypt (vs. 14-15). Later, the angel commands Joseph to return to Israel (vs. 20), and Joseph immediately takes his family back to Israel (vs. 21). Quick to listen and quick to obey!
Christian, learn from Joseph. Listen to God’s commands and then obey them. Jesus Himself said, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments” (John 14:15). If we love Jesus, our natural response will be obedience. Apparently Joseph loved God, because he faithfully obeyed God. Let him show you the way to obedience.
